ARNE SLOT WANTS LIVERPOOL JOB

Arne Slot has expressed his desire to become the next manager of Liverpool and is optimistic that an arrangement can be made with Feyenoord.

The 45-year-old manager is emerging as a top contender for the role, with Jurgen Klopp leaving the Reds at the end of the season.

Speaking after Feyenoord's 3-1 win at Go Ahead Eagles on Thursday, the Dutchman said: "I'm having a great time at Feyenoord, but when a club like Liverpool comes forward, it would be crazy if I didn't think that was a great next step," Slot said:

"The clubs are in negotiations. I am waiting to hear, just like I was before the game. If an agreement is reached, there will be follow-up discussions. Everyone understands Feyenoord wants to get the most [compensation] out of it.

"But I believe they'll let me get the most out of it as well. Joining Liverpool would be a massive step for me. I just have to let the clubs do their job and wait. It's no secret I want to go to Liverpool."

Slot guided Feyenoord to the 2022-23 Eredivisie title and secured the Dutch Cup this season. His success has attracted interest from clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United in the past.
